Bradley Whitford has been cast in a guest role on the US Shameless.
The West Wing star will play the character of a "politically active" and "sophisticated" gay man named Abraham, TV Guide reports.
Shameless stars William H Macy as the single father of six children who learn to take care of themselves.
Whitford is best known for portraying Josh Lyman on Aaron Sorkin's political drama The West Wing and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
Season three of Shameless premieres January 13 on Showtime.
