The former Coronation Street actress has joined the cast of Hollyoaks in the role of Maxine Minniver, sister to wannabe glamour model Ann ‘Mitzeee’ Minniver.
28-year-old Nikki Sanderson is best known for playing hairdresser, Candice Stowe, in rival soap Coronation Street between 1999 and 2005.
She has now landed the part of Maxine Minniver, the sister of glamour model Mitzeee played by Rachel Shenton.
A Hollyoaks spokesperson tells RTÉ Ten that Maxine is set to cause just as much havoc as her sister already has. They said: “Maxine is a confident, lively, impulsive, flirtatious bombshell, with boundless energy and a penchant for living life on the edge - and to the full.
“With a zest for the world that borders on hedonistic, Maxine grabs life tightly and squeezes out every last drop of enjoyment. A fearless risk-taker, Maxine is street savvy, witty, ambitious and can spot an opportunity a mile-off."
They added: “It will be handbags at dawn when this feisty character arrives in the village and cooks up one almighty storm!”
Sanderson, who also played Dawn Bellamy in Heartbeat, couldn't be happier with her new role. The actress said: “Being a member of the Hollyoaks team has so far been an absolute pleasure and I am excited about what the future holds for my character. I feel very lucky to be part of such a wonderful show and to be working with an amazing team”.
Nikki Sanderson will first be on screen on Mon 5 Oct on E4 and Tues 6 Oct on C4.
