You can take your pick between Ryan Gosling and Angelina Jolie or Emma Watson and Channing Tatum but the author of Fifty Shades of Grey has refused to speculate on the casting of the planned movie adaptation of her million-selling bonkbuster.

Speaking to E! Online, EL James kept her dream casting for the movie to herself, saying that she doesn’t want to comment publicly until the actors are chosen.

"It gets messy," she said. "You might end up with somebody else [than I suggested]."

Lesser-known names such as Shailene Woodley, Katie Cassidy, Lucy Hale, Alexander Skarsgård and Ian Somerhalder have also been mentioned as possibles for the lead roles of kinky couple Christian and Ana.

James added that casting is a "collaborative effort" between herself and the film's crew and executives, but added that they have not yet had "discussions" about which rating the movie should aim for.

She also revealed that she "never thought about how [the writing] would translate to the big screen", adding: "I almost fell out of my chair when I got an email about film rights."

James recently revealed that she wrote sex scenes to the Black Eyed Peas track Sexy.

Meanwhile, perhaps in an effort to bring some class to the whole phenomenon, EMI records have just released Fifty Shades of Grey: The Classical Album which features music enjoyed by Christian Grey in the book. Pieces by the likes of Bach, Verdi, Chopin and Debussy are included.
