The Paralympics 2012 came to a star-studded close last night as Coldplay, Rihanna and Jay-Z took to the stage to mark the wonderful achievements of the athletes.

During last night's three-hour-plus Paralympics closing ceremony, Coldplay opened with Us Against The World before playing more than a dozen of their greatest hits, including Yellow, Up in Flames, 42 and God Put A Smile Upon My Face.

Rihanna joined the band for a rendition of Princess Of China, arriving on a wooden ship, and also sang her hit We Found Love.

Speaking to the crowd, Rihanna said: "Being at the Paralympics is the biggest honor. These athletes are gladiators and are a true inspiration to me."

Jay-Z later joined Coldplay and Rihanna for a collaboration on his Run This Town and sang a version of the band's Paradise with them.

Coldplay finished the ceremony with Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall.

British stars of the Olympics and Paralympics are due to celebrate their success with a victory parade through the streets of central London later on today, with tens of thousands of spectators expected for the parade.

Meanwhile, the Irish Paralympic team will arrive home tonight from the 2012 Paralympic Games in London with a total of 16 medals.

The team is due to touch down at Dublin at about 7pm. They will be welcomed home by Minister of State for Sport Michael Ring.
