Olympic gold medallist Katie Taylor is strongly rumoured to be the star guest on The Late Show tonight.

Ryan Tubridy kicks off the 51st season of the show on RTÉ One at 9.30pm. Boyle-born actor Chris O’Dowd of IT Crowd and Bridesmaids fame has tweeted that he’ll talk to host Ryan Tubridy about his recent marriage and his new show, Moone Boy.

Heathers, who released their new album Kingdom today, and Mel C have confirmed their appearances on Twitter.

There’s a new producer on board for the new season of The Late Late and in a recent interview with RTÉ Ten, Ryan Tubridy said that the show will be slightly tweaked but not to expect major changes.

“The theme this season will be evolution of a revolution,” he said. “We’re going to evolve. We’re going to move it around a little bit, there’ll be a slightly different feel – it’s under new management, production-wise, and I think you’ll certainly sense that and feel that in the first few shows.

“Last year was a lot of fun. I thought it ended on a splendid bang with the 50th anniversary show. I loved that, and I love that last show so much I want to bring a taste of that to the new season. I like that idea of it being quite loose, and guests coming and going.

“I like to think that we can tweak things here and there. But, like I say, we won’t be doing too much because we know from the figures that it really ain’t broke. So there’s no point trying to fix it.”
