Níal Conlon and Kieran McGuinness admit to RTÉ Ten’s Alan Corr that they feel “lucky to be in a band”.
Ahead of their performance on the Craw Daddy stage at Electric Picnic today Níal Conlon and Kieran McGuinness chatted to Ten’s Alan Corr about the exciting year the Delorentos have had since the release of the third album Little Sparks.
Kieran said: “After the year we have had with the album coming back here [to Electric Picnic] is really for us. Our families and girlfriends are here as well.”
Little Sparks was widely applauded by critics, yet Níal reveals that it has not been an easy road to success, what with the band’s previous split.
He said: “We had everything go wrong that could go wrong to us. Between people in our families getting sick, record labels going south and managers leaving, you name it has happened to us but we realised it is a privilege to be in a band.
“You are lucky to be in band. Not everybody gets to be in a band. You don’t have to be a millionaire rockstar to enjoy it. It is a really special thing.”
