The boyband are set to host a special programme on MTV ahead of their first performance at the Video Music Awards.
One Direction will front a show call My First Time, a half-hour show on which they will share their thoughts on the most memorable performances at annual Video Music Awards.
The What Makes You Beautiful hitmakers will pick-out highlights, including Chris Brown's rendition of Billie Jean and the infamous performance of Like a Virgin by Madonna, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
The show also includes artists such Pink, Green Day and Taylor Swift, who will take a trip down memory lane by watching their first VMA performances, sharing never-before-heard info about that night and offering advice to One Direction.
One Direction: My First Time will air on MTV on Tuesday, Sept 4, at 9.30pm while the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will take place at Los Angeles' Staples Center on Thursday, September 6.
