Emma Stone has said she struggled to find a stage name when she started out in her acting career.
The Amazing Spiderman star's birth name was Emily Stone but as there was already somebody registered with the Screen Actor's Guild of the same name, she had to come up with a stage name.
She told Interview magazine, "I was 16 at the time, and I hadn't done anything yet, so I was like, 'I can be whatever I want to be. What name do I want to have?' So I went though a list of names and picked Riley."
While working on Malcolm in the Middle however it became an issue on set, "Everyone kept on yelling, 'Riley!' and I didn't know who they were talking to."
She decided to go with Emma as it was a nickname her mum used for her, "I had to change my professional name to Emma, which my mum always called me."
