Goran Visnjic has been cast in the upcoming television series Red Widow.
The ABC drama centres on a wife and mother Marta Walraven (Radha Mitchell), whose gangster husband is killed by a rival group, prompting her to work with the FBI to expose the criminals behind the murder.
Visnjic will portray Schiller, the mafia boss responsible for the hit placed on Walraven's husband, Deadline reports.
Actors Lara Pulver, Wil Travel, Lee Tergesen and Clifton Collins Jr have also been cast in the series.
The project will be written by Twilight writer Melissa Rosenberg and is expected to premiere in late 2012.
Visnjic is best known for his role in the medical drama series ER, which he starred in for nine years.
The 39-year-old Croatian actor recently starred in TV shows Leverage and Pan Am.
