After much speculation, actor Richard E Grant has been cast in the new series of Dr Who.
The BBC announced the casting news via the programme's official Twitter account in the early hours of this morning after producers teased that an iconic British star was set to appear in the show.
Grant will play a villain in this year’s Christmas special alongside fellow actor Tom Ward, according to The Sun newspaper.
This isn’t the first time the actor has worked on the sci-fi. He lent his voice to the Ninth Doctor in a spin-off animated series called Scream of the Shalka, which appeared on the web in 2003.
