Sherman Hemsley, star of the TV series The Jeffersons has died aged 74.
Hemsley's career got started in the Seventies, playing Archie Bunker's neighbour George Jefferson in the series All In The Family, before getting a ten year-long spin-off show The Jeffersons.
In recent years, he is famed for guest spots on Sister Sister as twins Tia and Tamara Mowry's grandfather, as a voice actor for puppet show Dinosaurs as well as roles on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and The Hughleys.
Tamara Mowry tweeted to her fans last night 'RIP SHERMAN HEMSLEY ... You were brilliant at your craft! You taught me pure comedy. Such a pleasure working with a such a great talent.'
The actor died yesterday at his home in El Paso, Texas.
