Sky Atlantic unveil yet another new US show when Showtime comedy drama House of Lies begins tonight (Tuesday July 3).
Don Cheadle leads an all-star cast in what promises to be a whip-smart show based on Martin Kihn’s hit book, House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time.
Set in the highstakes corporate world of percentages, profit margins and aggregate turnovers, it features Don Cheadle (Hotel Rwanda) as Marty Kaan, a cut-throat consultant who’s always looking to squeeze more cash from clients.
Together with his team, Jeannie (Kristen Bell, Veronica Mars), Clyde (Ben Schwartz, Parks and Recreation) and Doug (Josh Lawson, Home and Away), Marty makes up the 1% who go after the world’s 1%, the absurdly wealthy still sucking on their silver spoons.
Marty’s consultancy firm currently stands at number two and he’ll stop at nothing to reach pole position. Standing in his way is pill-popping, unhinged ex-wife Monica (Dawn Olivieri, Vampire
Diaries), who happens to run the number one consultancy firm.
In tonight’s pilot episode, Marty heads to New York to catch his latest client: MetroCapital. The financial world may be burning around them, but the mega bank is looking to justify its year-end bonuses.
Step in Marty and co who - loosening their morals accordingly - have come up with a plan.
