Coronation Street star Chris Gascoyne has explained the reason behind his upcoming six-month break from the show.
The actor, who plays the part of Peter Barlow, said that he is taking a break from the Weatherfield soap to "refresh" himself.
DigitalSpy quote Gascoyne as saying "You don't get a rest because there's no end to this show and when you have got big storyline after big storyline you get very tired and you're not really on top of your work.
"So much so I just needed a break to refresh myself and then come back and I'll be fine."
Speaking about how he will spend his time off he said "There'll be a bit of family time and just time to have a normal life really."
Gascoyne announced his departure from the show in May along with his co-star Alison King.
