Kate Walsh, star of the Grey's Anatomy spin-off Private Practice, is said to be leaving her role on the show after six years.
The news broke just days after long-running co-star Tim Daly was informed through his agent that series creator Shonda Rhimes had not renewed his contract for the sixth season.
The actor tweeted earlier this week "Wonderful fans of PPP. Shonda informed my agent today that Pete wont be returning for season 6. It was a great 5 yrs. R.I.P. Pete Wilder."
The drama series, which centres around Walsh's character Addison Montgomery, was renewed last month to return to US television screens this Autumn but it is speculated that this season may be the last, as Walsh has only signed on for 13 more episodes.
Walsh has played the character for a total of seven years, across the two series.
The spin-off series was built around Montgomery's move from Seattle Grace to Santa Monica, California for a fresh start. It is unclear whether producers plan to continue the series without its leading lady.
