Legendary horror movie The Exorcist is set to be remade as a ten-part TV series.
Vulture reports that Sean Durkin, director and writer of Martha Marcy May Marlene, will handle the adaptation of William Peter Blatty's novel and its infamous 1973 big-screen version.
The TV show will stray slightly from previous versions of the story, focusing instead on the events leading up to a demonic possession and how it affects the victim's loved ones.
It's not know if original characters such as Regan MacNeil (played by Linda Blair) and her mother Chris (Ellen Burstyn) will be featured, but exorcist Father Damien Karras (Jason Miller) is expected to appear.
The original Exorcist movie was the first horror film to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar and is still regarded as one of the scariest ever to hit the silver screen.
