Blade Runner has been voted the greatest sci-fi movie of all time in a new poll of SFX magazine readers.
More than 10,000 votes were cast for the special edition SFX Presents: The Top 100 Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Movies of All Time, with Ridley Scott's 1982 film beating the Irvin Kershner-directed The Empire Strikes Back to the top spot.
James Cameron's sequel to Scott's Alien, Aliens, was in third place, with Scott's own film in eighth.
Editor of the SFX special edition, Russell Lewin, said of Blade Runner: "This was a film that was both a commercial and critical failure when it was released in 1982. Since then, its reputation has slowly grown and grown. And no wonder - Ridley Scott's film is a striking work.
"Full of ambiguity, with complex and fascinating themes, it has stunning visuals that have been influencing sci-fi movies ever since, and rewards the viewer the more they watch it."
