X-Factor's 2011 runner-up faces record label drop

X-Factor’s 2011 runner-up, Marcus Collins may be dropped from his record label. According to reports, RCA bosses have told Collins that he will be axed if his next single Mercy is not a big hit.

A source told the Daily Star on Sunday, "Marcus's sales have been really disappointing. Although his album went in at number seven, it only spent three weeks in the Top 40.

"No-one expected him to flop but he's one of the most unsuccessful runners-up in the show's history.

"He has to pull it out of the bag with his second single. If that bombs, there's unlikely to be a third."

The 24-year-old’s debut single, a cover of Seven Nation Army, reached number 9 in the charts. His new single Mercy will be released on June 3.

This news comes after other reports in The People that X-Factor's 2010 winner, Matt Cardle has parted ways with his record label, Columbia beacause he wants to take his career in a different direction.
