Legendary Jamaican rhythm section, drummer Sly Dunbar and bassist Robbie Shakespeare, are set to play a gig in Dublin this July in celebration of 50 years of Jamaican independence.

The duo, who have recorded over 200,000 tracks and have played with a huge range of artists including Grace Jones, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Britney Spears, Robert Palmer, and Sinead O’Connor, play Dublin’s Button Factory on July 7.

They’ll be joined on the night by UB40 collaborator Bitty McLean and Ernest Ranglin, the guitarist composer cited as inventing the core ‘scratching’ style of guitar playing.
