The latest Apprentice hopeful has been fired by Lord Sugar after the failure of a task to promote British sparkling wines.
25-year-old beauty salon owner Jenna Whittingham was the latest to go after she directed a much-criticised advert as part of the task. The show jumping champion has admitted that she had not watched the show prior to being on it saying she did not really realise what she was getting herself into.
Whittingham said "To be honest with you - this sounds really awful - but I haven't really watched every single series.
"It was a case of last year when they announced it was going to be the investment that I watched a few clips and put my application in because I genuinely wanted to get an investment." She added that she was hoping to expand her chain of beauty and clothing boutiques.
Team leader Ricky Martin brought back Whittingham and Stephen Brady into the boardroom as they were the sub-group charged with creating a classy advert to promote the product. Jenna chose to go down the comedy route with her wedding inspired ad which Martin later branded as cheesy.
Whittingham said she was really surprised to get the boot saying it was a “massive shock” as she was convinced that Brady would be the one to go. She said "I was proper devastated when I got fired. I didn't think I was getting fired because, after I gave quite a good profile of why I should stay, I actually thought Stephen was going. So it was a massive shock to me really."
Brady talked his way out of trouble in the boardroom when he said he could guarantee Lord Sugar a win if he was made project manager on the next task. Lord Sugar took him up on the offer so his reprieve may only be temporary.
