It has been announced that Home and Away stars Luke Mitchell and Rebecca Breeds have become engaged. The pair star as Summer Bay’s Romeo Smith and Ruby Buckton on the popular Australian soap.
The couple got engaged in April while they were on a break in Hayman Island in Queensland to celebrate the actor’s birthday. They announced they were getting married in an interview with New Idea magazine.
Mitchell said "Honestly, it was one of the most difficult things I've ever done in my life. I had the element of surprise - I didn't tell anyone what I was planning, not a soul, not even my parents.
"But pretending there was nothing special on my mind for three months before I actually asked her to marry me - that was the best acting I've ever done!"
Breed said of the proposal "I turned around and there was Luke on one knee with a ring box in his hand. My jaw just hit the ground. I was so surprised I forgot to say 'yes' at first!"
On the soap currently there is a frisson between the pair but as Romeo is married to Indi he is determined to remain faithful.
