James Buckely, one of the stars of the hit TV series The Inbetweeners, has said it unlikely that the series will return.

There had been reports that Buckley, who played Jay Cartwright in the sitcom and the subsequent hit movie, had hinted that a fourth series was being planned which would include the death of a major character. However Buckley, speaking to NME, said the reports were unfounded saying "I've not been spoken to about it at all. I've had interviews in the paper just completely made up.

"I've not spoken to anyone for six months. There was an interview in the Daily Star where I was quoted saying we were going to do a fourth series and one of the characters was going to die, which wasn't true."

He said: "There are no plans to do any more, unfortunately. I think that will be the last you see of The Inbetweeners."
