The latest contestant to be fired on BBC One's The Apprentice says boss Alan Sugar made the wrong decision, and described him as "unpredictable and belligerent".

Catering and refrigeration company founder and managing director Azhar Siddique was part of Team Phoenix, who lost Wednesday night's wholesale goods challenge, finishing with £838.21 of assets compared to Team Sterling's £955.20.

Siddique said he felt Team Phoenix's project manager Jade Nash should have been fired.

"I am disappointed. I definitely thought Jade should have gone, but obviously I have to respect Lord Sugar's decision," he said.

He continued: "I think a lot of the team saw me [as] more of a threat because I know how business works. I started my own business and I know how to make money. I'm the most credible person in the process.

"We didn't have any strategy in place and that's why we lost. We played things based on Jade's decisions.

"I've grown a multi-million pound industry and I've got the experience. But I think the others didn't listen because I was too technical."

Siddique said he was on good terms with Nash.

"I don't hold grudges, not at all. I get on with everyone," he said.

"But business is business. And in business, sometimes people have to make the right decisions and Jade made the wrong one, and Lord Sugar as well."

Siddique backed Tom Gearing to win the show.

"Tom's a very strong candidate. He's young as well, he's a well-rounded individual and he knows how things should and do work," he said.
