Former Rome actor Ray Stevenson - who played Titus Pullo in the BBC/HBO co-production - will play a "major recurring role" in the seventh season of Showtime's Dexter.
TVLine reports that Stevenson has signed-up to play a high-ranking member of an Eastern European crime ring, who comes to Miami in order to find out who killed one of his associates.
It isn't yet clear whether his character will be the season's major villain to come up against the justice-seeking serial killer Dexter Morgan, played by former Six Feet Under star Michael C Hall.
Hall recently suggested that the show will not have a happy ending, while co-star Jennifer Carpenter has confirmed that she only plans to film eight seasons.
Season six of Dexter continues on Fridays on British satellite channel FX.
