Ballerina Darcey Bussell has been linked to the vacant seat on the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel.

Former winner and judge Alesha Dixon announced she was leaving the show earlier this year to move to rival reality show, Britain’s Got Talent, and now the former Royal Ballet principal dancer has been reported to be linked to the role.

The Sun reports that Bussell has signed a deal with the BBC worth £100,000 to sit alongside head judge Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood. The 42-year-old ballerina was involved in the show three years when she was invited to judge in the later stages of the competition and she has also performed on the show.

Other names which have been linked to the job are former Strictly dance professional Karen Hardy who won the show alongside cricketer Mark Ramprakash in 2006.
