Charlie Sheen's new series Anger Management is at the centre of a $50 million lawsuit.

The show's executive producer Joe Roth (Major League, Mona Lisa Smile) is being sued by another producer, Jason Shuman.

The Hollywood Reporter states that Shuman claims that he spent two years adapting the 2003 film Anger Management for television, and was promised a cut of the profits made by the series.

However he alleges that he was cut out of the deal when Sheen signed on, and is owed more than $50 million in compensation.

In response to the allegations, Roth explained: "We haven't received the complaint but we are aware of the issue.

“We reviewed this issue months ago with our lawyers, our lawyers determined it has no merit, and we thought the issue had been dropped."

Anger Management is due to be broadcast this summer on satellite channel FX.
