Axl Rose has turned down an invitation to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame which is due to take place this weekend in Cleveland.
People.com reports that the Guns N' Roses frontman released an open letter yesterday in which he declined to attend the ceremony saying "I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N' Roses to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame." The band famously had a major falling out in 1996 and said attending the event would be "somewhat of a complicated or awkward situation."
He also warned in the letter against being inducted in his absence adding "I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia... this decision is personal. I certainly don't intend to disappoint anyone, especially the fans, with this decision."
He also seemed to reject any talk of a possible reunion for the group at some point saying the only two original member he would ever share a stage with were Izzy Stradlin and Duff McKagan.
