Scarlett Johansson has revealed that she would like to direct her own film.
The actress said that she has been working on her own feature film "for years", and admitted that she is keen to challenge herself in her career.
She told Empire magazine: "I would like to direct a feature. I've been developing it for years. It's good. I just want to work on stuff that's challenging to me, physically, emotionally. I don't want to do anything that doesn't scare me a little bit."
Johansson added that she would like to play "established" characters in films in the future, such as the silent film star Norma Desmond in a remake of the 1950 movie Sunset Boulevard.
She said: "As I get older I sort of see that I'm able to kind of move away from characters that are transitional. I'm now looking at characters - women - that are established and are where they are because of where they came from and have a background.
"Actors are always asked to do things that are absolutely ludicrous, whether you're rappelling down the side of a building or crawling through the woods or fulfilling yourself emotionally.
"I want to play Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard someday. But I need a couple more years."
