RTÉ Radio 1's Mooney programme has launched its Mooney Nestwatch 2012 webcam, which will allow visitors 24-hour access to this year's stars, a female robin and her five eggs.
The eggs are expected to hatch in the coming days at: www.rte.ie/mooneycam, with updates on Mooney each day at 3pm on RTÉ Radio 1.
Host Derek Mooney said: "The Mooney Nestwatch webcam gives our listeners a rare and exciting opportunity to witness one of nature's 'little miracles'.
"Consider that this little robin laid five eggs, easily half her bodyweight, and now has to sit on her nest and incubate them while fending off predators. When her nestlings hatch, she and her partner will have to find enough food to sustain them through the most fragile stage of their lives."
