Both ITV and the BBC have claimed victory in the Saturday night talent show ratings battle on British television.
The Press Association reports that ITV's returning show Britain's Got Talent had a peak audience of 12.2m (including the channel's +1 strand).
The Voice's peak was 2.4m fewer at 9.8m.
However, in the 20 minutes when both shows overlapped on Saturday night, the BBC said The Voice was victorious with 8.96m viewers while Britain's Got Talent had 6.56m viewers.
