Irish actor Ciarán Hinds is to star opposite Sigourney Weaver in Political Animals, a new six-part US drama.
Deadline.com reports that the series follows Elaine Barrish (Weaver), the divorced former First Lady who becomes the new US Secretary of State.
Hinds will play Bud Hammond, the former US President whose popularity has suffered since his divorce from Elaine and "out-of-office antics".
He is, however, still as much in love with his ex-wife as he is with his old job.
The series will premiere on the USA Network this summer.
