Former ER star Eriq La Salle – he played Dr Peter Benton - has joined the cast of the pilot for a new drama called Widow Detective.
He'll play a lieutenant and friend of the lead character, guest starring in the pilot with an option to return if the pilot ends up getting the go-ahead for a full series.
The pilot revolves around Denny, a decorated police officer (former Sex and the City star John Corbett) who becomes a surrogate husband and father to the families of three partners lost in the line of duty.
La Salle will take the role of Lieutenant Lutrell, a loyal friend who came up through the ranks of the police alongside Denny.
Meanwhile, La Salle’s fellow former ER co-star Anthony Edwards (who played Dr Mark Greene) has also got a pilot gig, on ABC's conspiracy thriller Zero Hour.
