Katy Perry has stated that an upcoming duet between herself and singer Rihanna will be "iconic" and that the public have had to "wait for greatness".
Speaking to BBC Radio 1 yesterday, the Firework singer disregarded that a duet would be like the collaboration between Beyoncé and Shakira, saying "I want it to be like that Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin song Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves not Beautiful Liar."
The hit, released by Beyoncé and Shakira in 2007, reached No. 1 in 11 countries, including Ireland and the UK.
She continued "we’ve collaborated on a lot of things, but just not songs yet. It’s one of those things that’s got so much build up that we have to deliver. But I definitely want to do something that is so iconic."
Speaking about a time frame for the public to hear this duet, Perry explained "We’re both busy but we planted the seed two years ago. How disappointed would you be if that song came out and it’s no good? Sometimes you have to wait for greatness."
Rihanna spoke recently about the planned duet, saying that "the song will probably come out in a while. I won’t say that it’s happening right now, but it’s going to happen."
