Michael Fassbender has officially signed on to star in The Counselor.
Deadline reports that the actor will collaborate with director Ridley Scott on a second project, following this June's Prometheus.
The Cormac McCarthy-scripted thriller will see Fassbender take on the role of a lawyer who becomes embroiled in the drugs trade.
The website reports that a number of actors, including Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner and Brad Pitt, are being considered for the role of the villain.
It was previously reported that there was a "high liklihood" that Fassbender would commit to the film, which has been described as author McCarthy's book No Country for Old Men "on steroids".
The Counselor is expected to start filming on May 1.
