Michael Fassbender has been linked to The Counselor, the Cormac McCarthy-scripted thriller that will reportedly be Ridley Scott's next film.
Deadline.com, which broke the story, says that Scott has talked to Fassbender about the leading role and that there is a "high likelihood" that he will commit to the film, which has been described as author McCarthy's book No Country for Old Men "on steroids".
The Counselor tells the story of a lawyer who becomes embroiled in the drugs trade.
It is reported that Scott is planning a May 1 start date.
Fassbender stars in Scott's Prometheus, which opens on June 1.
