Funny-man Eddie Murphy has become the latest celebrity to fall victim to an internet death hoax.
The 50-year-old actor and comedian was confirmed as being alive and well, contrary to reports that TMZ claims originated on MediaFetcher.com last night.
Murphy was forced to deny rumours back in 2010 that he had died in a snowboarding accident. The same cause of death was cited in the current hoax.
"Trust me, Eddie is very much alive and well and definitely not in Switzerland snowboarding," Murphy's rep told E! News.
Celebrities named in a spate of death hoaxes last year included Kevin Bacon, Charlie Sheen, Jersey Shore cast member Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Jon Bon Jovi.
