Michael Fassbender was among the winners at the Richard Attenborough UK Regional Film Awards (RAFAs) in London last night.

Fassbender won the Actor of the Year award for his performance in Shame.

Six of the 13 categories – including Fassbender's - at the RAFAs are voted on by the UK's regional film critics, while the other seven are voted on by members of the public.

In the critics' categories, Meryl Streep was named Actress of the Year for The Iron Lady, while Tom Hiddleston won the Rising Star award for War Horse, Thor and The Deep Blue Sea.

The Artist was named Film of the Year and its director, Michel Hazanavicius, was named Filmmaker of the Year.

Tinker Tailor Solider Spy's Bridget O'Connor and Peter Straughan won the Screenwriter award.

In the categories voted on by the public, there were wins for Tinker Tailor Solider Spy (British Film of the Year), its star, Gary Oldman (British Actor of the Year), Robert Pattinson (Film Star of the Year), Arthur Christmas (Animated Film) and The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn (Family Film).
