Jim Sheridan is writing a new version of his screenplay for the 1992 film Into the West.
Screen Daily reports that Sheridan will direct the new version of the film, which will be set in the US and "re-imagine" the original film's themes.
The original was directed by Mike Newell and starred Gabriel Byrne, Ellen Barkin, Ciarán Fitzgerald, Rúaidhrí Conroy, Brendan Gleeson and David Kelly.
