Shia LaBeouf has signed on to star in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman.
Variety reports that Commericals helmer Dante Ariola will direct the romantic action film, which centres around Charlie Countryman, an ordinary guy who falls in love with a violent crime boss's lover, Gabi.
Countryman must endure the beatings of the crime boss and his gang of thugs in order to charm Gabi and keep her safe.
Craig J Flores of co-producers Voltage Productions said in a statement: "After our fantastic experience collaborating with Shia on The Company You Keep, I jumped at the idea of working with him again on Charlie Countryman.
"The spark in this amazing script - mixed with Shia's pure talent and Fredrik's masterful ability to create an elevated love story we just can't get enough of - will redefine pulp romance."
