Coronation Street star Alison King, who plays Carla Connor, has said she has had a great reaction from the public to her latest storyline in the soap.
This week not only is Carla’s affair with Peter (Chris Gascoyne) exposed when pictures of them kissing are shown at Frank Foster's rape trial but Simon also tells a terrible lie. In an interview with The People, King said: "Carla can have fun with kids but she’s not good at dealing with it when they hate her. In the coming weeks Simon tells a terrible lie but she handles it really well."
Speaking about her affair with Peter being exposed this week she added: "She is sad about hurting Leanne, she loves her, but Carla is ruthless and can't fight her feelings for Peter any longer.
"I've had a brilliant reaction from viewers after the rape storyline. The support has been amazing.
"It was a really emotional subject to deal with. Bernie, a lady from a rape centre, told me everything I needed to know and was at filming.
"We didn't want to sensationalise it, just make it as honest as possible."
