One Direction star Harry Styles has tweeted about the end of his relationship with Caroline Flack.
The 17-year-old spoke about the split on his Twitter page, describing The Xtra Factor host as "one of the kindest, sweetest people" he'd ever met.
He added: "Please know I didn't 'dump' Caroline. This was a mutual decision. She is one of the kindest, sweetest people I know. Please respect that."
There had been a lot of speculation about the couple, which focused in particular on the fact that Flack is 15 years Styles' senior and Flack previously admitted to receiving death threats from One Direction fans.
Reports now claim that the couple broke up so that Styles can concentrate on One Direction’s US launch.
