Michael Fassbender has revealed that for his very first job he was naked. The Kerryman, and star of Shame, last night won the British Actor of the Year Award at The London Film Critics’ Circle Awards and afterwards spoke of how working in his birthday suit is nothing new.
"From the start of my career, I've been naked,” he said. “My first job was a commercial for SAS airlines. In the spot, I wake up in a pink room next to a beautiful blonde girl and get out of bed naked. From that point forward, it's been in all of my contracts: He must be naked in this film.’”
Fassbender (34), who has wrapped six films in a hectic twenty months, is currently the toast of Tinseltown with his hunky frame gracing the cover of the Hollywood Reporter. David Cronenberg, who directed the actor in A Dangerous Method (Fassbender plays psychoanalyst Carl Jung) recently spoke of his bemusement at the Irishman’s attitude.
"He's so perky, it drives you crazy," said Cronenberg. "One day, I found him out in the sun in his costume and make-up, with this big smile. I said, 'Michael, why are you smiling like that?' He said, 'I don't know ... life.' I said, 'It's so irritating that you're happy all the time.'"
And why shouldn’t he be with a likely Best Actor Oscar nomination imminent?
