Glenn Close, who wrote the screenplay, produced and directed the film, also co-wrote the song with composor Brian Byrne, which was sung by O’Connor.

The singer made a surprise guest appearance at the RTÉ Concert Orchestra’s New Year’s Eve Gala at the National Concert Hall.
The RTÉ Concert Orchestra recorded the soundtrack to Albert Nobbs with Byrne in the RTÉ Radio Centre in June last year and it has since been nominated for an IFTA and longlisted for an Oscar.

Also nominated for Golden Globes are Irish actors Michael Fassbender for Best Actor for his role in Shame and Brendan Gleeson for Best Comedy or Musical for his role in The Guard.
The Golden Globes will take place this Sunday, January 15 in the US.
