Prior to the end of the marriage, Russell Brand had previously joked about removing his wedding ring, in a video which has recently been released.
Ahead of his US college tour Brand, who in December filed for divorce from his wife of 14 months, Katy Perry, made a video in November showing him removing his wedding band.
According to People.com, the 36-year-old said: "I'm going to place this somewhere very, very safe for the next week", as he held up his hand in front of the camera and slipped off the ring.
He admitted that he knew very little about the American college scene but joked that he was looking forward to finding out more: "I don't know what a sorority is, except for what I have seen on Nudevista [X-rated website] – that they are sort of sex clubs for women.”
However there didn’t appear to be any problems in the marriage at that stage as 27-year-old Perry tweeted: "My fowl (sic) mouthed Hubby @rustyrockets is playing a few mid-west/east-coast shows starting tonight onwards! SUPPORT!"
Since the divorce announcement, Perry, has Tweeted that fan support has made her "heart happy again" but she has cancelled her appearance at tonight’s People's Choice Awards.
