Ronan Keating has revealed that he is recording his first new album in five years, and that it has a folk-music feel.

The former Boyzone singer said that he is currently working on material for the album, his fifth studio record, which he hopes to release this year.

He told Australia's Sunday Mail: "Now I have a new lease of life and I'm ready to write and record. I'm working on a new studio album, which I hope to release later this year.

"It's my first studio album in five years and will feature brand new songs. It has a folk feel at the moment but the sound is changing all the time."

Keating last year released When Ronan Met Burt, which featured ten tracks composed by Burt Bacharach.
