The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the seven films that remain in contention for the Make-Up category at this year's Oscars, and the Irish-made Albert Nobbs is among them.
The film's make-up department - Eileen Buggy (hairdresser: supporting artists), Eilis Coughlan (hair), Clare Lambe (make-up artist), Matthew W Mungle (special make-up effects designer) and Lorraine Glynn Whelan (key hair stylist) – are up against their colleagues from Anonymous, The Artist, Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Hugo and The Iron Lady for a place on the shortlist.
On Saturday January 21, the members of the Academy's Make-Up Branch will meet to view excerpts from all the films and will then vote for the three films they want as Oscar nominees.
The Oscar nominations will be announced on Tuesday January 24, with the ceremony taking place on February 26.
