Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch has joined JJ Abrams' Star Trek sequel.
The Daily Express reports that he will play the legendary Star Trek villain Khan.
Cumberbatch is also portraying Smaug the Dragon and voicing the Necromancer in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which is released in December.
The new Star Trek movie, which also includes Doctor Who star Noel Clarke in the cast, is due in cinemas on May 17, 2013.
