Meryl Streep: to be honoured at upcoming Berlin Film Festival

Legendary actress Meryl Streep is in for an eventful Valentine’s Day this year in Berlin.

Organisers have announced that on February 14 the Berlin Film Festival will pay tribute to her with a Lifetime Achievement Golden Bear ahead of a screening of The Iron Lady.

Streep has previously won prizes in Berlin. In 1999 she picked up the Berlinale Camera, which is awarded to friends and supporters of the festival. In 2003, she shared the best actress Silver Bear with Julianne Moore and Nicole Kidman for Stephen Daldry’s The Hours.

A Meryl Streep retrospective will run during the festival from Feb 9-19 and includes notable movies such as Kramer Vs Kramer, Sophie’s Choice, Out of Africa, The Bridges of Madison County and Prairie Home Companion, as well as Phyllida Lloyd’s Iron Lady, the latest film to generate rave reviews for Streep.
