Angelina Jolie has signed up for duty on the new Luc Besson action thriller. The as yet untitled movie is believed to incorporate elements of Besson’s own 1994 genre classic Leon, in which Jean Reno played a relentless hitman, and the sci-fi fantasy Inception.
For Jolie it is a return to the femme fatale role that she smartly essayed in such comic book features as Mr & Mrs Smith and Wanted. The actress has also been slated to play the role of Cleopatra in a historical epic about the Egyptian ruler: a role previously and most famously played by the late Elizabeth Taylor.
Jolie is also about to debut her Bosnian War drama In the Land of Blood and Honey: a reportedly gripping account of a conflict that first erupted in 1992 when Jolie was just 17. “The people felt as though the world had forgotten them,” Jolie told Newsweek recently. “It was a time of great pain, and I wanted to depict how courageous people were - without offending anyone.”
