The contents of the Bel Air mansion, where Michael Jackson’s body was found, go up for auction in LA next week.
Of the 500 or so lots most are of paintings, furniture or ornaments but there are also some personal memorabilia.
"Even though these weren't items that belonged to him, they were items that surrounded him in the final months of his life,” said auctioneer, Darren Julen. “Anything associated with Michael Jackson is highly collectible.”
One of the more personal items is a blackboard scrawled with the lines: "I [heart] daddy, Smile it's for free, love, Paris." Paris is Jackson's second child and only daughter. She was 11 when her father died in 2009. The guide price for the blackboard is $400 - $600.
Other memorabilia includes a candle on which Jackson's son Prince carved his name ($100 to $200) and an ornate mirror in the bedroom scrawled with the message: "Train, perfection March April Full out May". This is presumed to be a reference to Jackson’s rehearsals for London's This Is It concerts which were scheduled to start in July 2009 (the mirror is part of an armoire and carries an estimated sales price of $6,000 to $8,000).
But some items were not up for sale including the ornate headboard on the bed where Jackson's body was found on June 25, 2009. It was removed from the sale last month at the request of Jackson's family. The December 17 auction is not being carried out by the Jackson family as the mansion was rented and the furniture and house itself is being sold by the owners.
