Michael Fassbender won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Best Actor award at the weekend for his performances in four movies.

Fassbender, who last week was also named Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards, was honoured by the Los Angeles critics for his work on A Dangerous Method, Jane Eyre, Shame and X-Men: First Class.

Michael Shannon was the runner-up for Take Shelter.

The Best Actress award went to Yun Jung-hee for Poetry, with Kirsten Dunst the runner-up for Melancholia.

The Descendants was named Best Picture with The Tree of Life runner-up.

The Tree of Life's director Terrence Malick won the Best Director award with Martin Scorsese the runner-up for Hugo.

Jessica Chastain was named Best Supporting Actress for her performances in Coriolanus, The Debt, The Help, Take Shelter, Texas Killing Fields and Tree of Life.

Janet McTeer was the runner-up for her performance in Albert Nobbs.

Christopher Plummer was Best Supporting Actor for Beginners, with Patton Oswalt runner-up for Young Adult.

City of Life and Death was named Best Foreign Language Film, with A Separation the runner-up.
